Sleep Disorder

Poor sleep takes a toll on nearly every facet of our lives, from our most intimate relationships to our performance in the workplace and behind the wheel.

Three-quarters of America's adults report at least one symptom of a sleep problem, such as snoring or waking during the night; about one-quarter (24%) say sleep problems affect their daily activities. Yet when asked if they think they have a sleep problem, three-quarters of respondents say "no."

  • Half say they are often tired, fatigued or don't feel up to par during the day and 17% say they feel this way nearly every day.
  • Only half of adults report getting "a good night's sleep" nearly every night.
  • 4% (more than seven million people) have had an accident or near accident because they were too tired or actually dozed off behind the wheel.

If left untreated, sleep disorders can cause high blood pressure, weight gain, headaches, and can even increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.
