Laboratory
The Midwest Medical Center Clinical in-patient and out-patient laboratory serves our patients and referring physicians by offering state-of-the-art technology that is close to home. We promise friendly, personal service and quick result reporting to all we serve. We are located on the main floor of the hospital, situated between our Emergency and Surgery departments. You can expect efficient out-patient services and while no appointment is necessary, we do recommend you call ahead to ensure minimal wait time. When you arrive, simply stop by the front reception desk with your physician order and our guest services representatives will be glad to assist you.
Our Services
In the event your physician orders a specialty test that must be referred to a reference laboratory, we have established strong relationships with United Clinical Laboratory and the Mayo Medical Laboratories. We are also fortunate to have on our staff, a board-certified pathologist who is also faculty/staff at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Rockford. In house, we have the capability to offer testing in the following areas:
- Blood Gases
- Blood Bank
- Hematology
- Coagulation
- Chemistry
- Special Chemistry
- Microbiology
Working with the Community
The Midwest Medical Center Laboratory works cooperatively with the Jo Daviess Health Department to offer “Hypertension and Cholesterol Screens.” Contact the Jo Daviess Health Department at 815-777-0263 for dates and sites of the screens or visit them online click here.The Midwest Medical Center Laboratory also serves Midwest Health Clinic, the Medical Associates and Galena Health Clinics, the Elizabeth Nursing Home, and numerous home health agencies.
